I decided this year for my goals that I would take a review of last year’s goals and see how I’ve done. Then either continue them for this upcoming year or end them. I do plan on adding a few new goals to the mix as well. After all we all change from year to year, month to month, day to day, hour to hour.
My Online Life
Blogging. I think this has been a constant struggle for me this last year. First, I had issues getting my redesign working the way I want it to. Then I kind of ran out of things that I really felt like talking about. I don’t know why, but it is something I really need to get more steady in doing. Even if it is only once a week. Kinda related, I really would like to get back into tweeting too. I never know what to say there, but sometimes I do have really short things to say and I think it’d be good to get back into that. Especially if I start Tweeting pics. MMOs. I don’t particularly feel the need to get into another MMORPG anymore. On some respect, I do kind of want to get into another one. But I’ve played many of the MMOs out there and I am either bored of the ones that I’ve played or just don’t like the other ones. I also don’t particularly have money to be paying for it so I really am relegated to only playing Free ones which is limiting. Every now and then I still play Champions Online but it really is more of a solo game than a group game. I like Emerett, but he seems forever destined to design Single Player Online Games.
My Gaming Life
Neither of my goals from last year were really fulfilled. I never finished any additional games, nor did I really buy any more RPGs really. I would like to continue work on finishing old games, but I am no longer wanting to buy all the RPGs I can, at least right now. Money doesn’t afford it. Neither of these is a huge deal to me though. I’d rather make money at this point due to financial troubles rather than finish games.
My Work Life
I still haven’t found a new job, not that I haven’t tried. I got very close to getting a technical writer position last summer, but wasn’t quite there. I am very hopeful this year that I finally move on. I already have a few prospects, but given how badly things have gone for me in the past, I don’t put a ton of hope into the idea. Still, I really need to move on, and I continue to work toward that end. I do want to start writing more in general. Which does relate to my blog, but I want to start with writing documentation at work. Toward the end of last year, I started to make documentation at work, and I think it went over well amongst my coworkers and managers. I want to continue what I started, and hope that it somehow leads to a technical writer position either within the company I work for, or at a different one. At the very least, it should be good practice.
My Personal Life
Losing Weight. Another thing that didn’t really happen. In fact, I think I gained a few pounds. I now weigh 232 lbs. and could really stand to lose now. My personal ideal weight is around 180, and I only went below 200 once as an adult. I really want to lose weight and I am starting by eating less. I have started eating half sandwiches for lunch and fruit. Next I have started doing sit ups every morning as well. I also want to start doing more walks on breaks as well. I also want to start using Wii Fit a little more as well.
Meeting new people. I still want to open up, and even meet new people. But I don’t think I’ve done particularly much on this end. There have been a few decent opportunities to get together with work people outside of work that I’ve missed due to bad timing. Have gotten to know the Shadowrun group a little better. Am at a point where I do feel I can talk to them when there is 3, maybe 4 of us, but still clam up with all 5. I need to continue to work on this.
I also want to add a third goal to my personal life. I want to re-learn Japanese. I thought it was valuable to learn Japanese when I was taking the classes in school, and I regret that I have lost much of that knowledge. For now, the only thing that I can do is to sit and play My Japanese Coach which isn’t too bad actually and I think has helped quite a bit remember. The key though is to continue doing it.
