The Day After the Ceremony

The wedding went pretty well I thought. It was a good ceremony, not too short not too long. Beautiful location, great weather, good food, etc. It also wasn’t too big, I’d say there were maybe 40 to 50 people attending, which is far fewer than they were expecting (which I think was 100-150). I don’t know why so many didn’t show, maybe it was the flooding of roads preventing them from getting there, maybe it was high gas prices. Who knows, it was nice to not have too many though.

The Backdrop of the wedding ceremonyMy roommate, whom was in the ceremony, did well talking to all the guests and standing in front of people and walking down the isle and all that. She was really nervous and hates being in front of people, I was proud of her for what she did. It was nice.

The location of the wedding was at the Pres House which I’ve walked by on State Street many times, but never had been inside of so I was more than happy to go. It was a very very cool church. It reminded me of those old grand cathedrals that they used to build, except cut in half. It was a really short church in length. Also, in a sign of the times, the church had the rich aroma of bread from the Subway that was now located in the basement of the church. It was more than a little odd and humorous and almost of that reason alone I may have reconsidered having my wedding there.

Food was great. It was some sort of mushroom and stuffing mixture wrapped in chicken, which was a little dry but not bad. The big problem here was that they also wrapped it in the chicken skin for some reason which was gross, and I had to peel off the skin in order to eat. The cake was great, they had a choice of chocolate, vanilla, and chocolate-strawberry, and it really was quite delicious which was a pleasant and surprising change of pace from the usual crap cake they often serve at weddings. I never understand why wedding cake tastes so bad, I realize most of the money goes into the looks but they could spend some time on the taste!

My big complaint on the ceremony was that despite the movie Wedding Crashers, there really wasn’t anyone who was hot to sleep with. In fact, there weren’t really that many people who weren’t already with someone, or even my own age. Most of the attendees were older really, which kind of sucked honestly because I wanted to take the opportunity to try to meet someone as I really was hoping that the Bride had friends from college that would attend, but this wasn’t true at all.

Still it was a nice wedding, and considering I am friends with both the bride and the groom, I was very happy to have seen the ceremony first hand. And was glad I went to the reception as well, though I felt like I was a bit of a mooch going to that as I really didn’t do that much except eat the food.
