The big news out of E3 for Nintendo really seemed to be the two new peripherals that they announced at the show. I say this mostly because there weren’t really a lot of new games shown. We knew about Animal Crossing which sadly looks like WW just on the Wii, we knew about Shaun White (and who cares really) and we knew about most of the other Wii titles. The DS version of GTA is a fairly huge deal and should do wonders for giving DS a much needed bump in sales, but really there wasn’t much else. There was no Kid Icarus, Punch-Out, Zelda, DS Redesign, original IP, Pikmin, not even any new info on Disaster (which more and more looks like vaporware).

Well I got the new hard drive earlier this week and I continue to have the same issues, though no where near the frequency that I had before… I’m not really sure what is going on anymore. I have done a memtest for 6 hours to ensure I had no memory issues and the memory is good, also didn’t crash once during the tests which tells me there isn’t likely an issue with non-hard drive stuff. This is a hard drive issue somehow. I changed the cable for the SATA, and still no good. I’ve moved the positioning of the SATA interface from primary to secondary to #5 and 6 and that hasn’t seemed to help either.
I’m starting to think that I either got a second faulty hard drive from Seagate, or my motherboard is having some issues with the Hard Drive connection. I am going to try a few other small ideas today including changing the BIOS but if all that doesn’t work I’m going to send the motherboard in under the warranty and hope that works. If that doesn’t work I don’t even know what to do next.
A couple weeks ago I started to get the Blue Screen of Death randomly. I started by thinking it might be a recently installed program so I uninstalled everything that I had added, I then tried system restore, and after that didn’t work I tried taking out the Memory because that is a common problem. Well a couple of days ago I went out and bought a couple new pieces to my computer that I wasn’t expecting to get for quite awhile; a new keyboard and headset.

I got the final pieces to my new computer last Thursday and then promptly got it set up. I was up till midnight the first night and I went to bed with the happy knowledge that I got it up and running with Windows cleanly running. Actually the whole process went fairly smoothly. I had a couple hiccups, but all the pieces worked perfectly and once I made sure all the power connectors were hooked up, it was up within minutes. Continue reading “New Computer”
Well I finally got my fan, installed it, and now my computer seems to be running back at normal. I think the computer is getting hotter than it was when the water cooler was actually working, but hopefully this will work and it only needs to really work for games for another few months. After that I doubt my roommate will ever put a game in the system.
